⚓ Franchise Investment Overview

As a Palapa Tours Franchisee, you’ll not only operate under our proven brand and systems, but you will also own your boats outright. Unlike our license/lease model, the boats are registered to you, while being tied into the Franchise Agreement and Protected Territory to ensure consistency, quality, and brand protection across all operations.

Investment Variables

All fees below are based on the base model Tiki Boat. As with any vehicle, you may choose upgrades that can affect the overall cost of your investment.

Engine Requirements: If your territory requires more than a 60 hp engine, additional costs will apply. Dual-engine capabilities are also available.
Shipping & Delivery: You are responsible for destination charges (shipping/import costs) — please budget $5,000–$10,000.
Working Capital: Budget $15,000–$20,000 for essentials such as business cards, brochures, liquor licence fees, insurance, and start-up marketing.

Ballpark Investment (60 hp, Base Model)

Two Boats: ~$400,000
Three Boats: ~$550,000

Who Owns the Boats?

As a franchisee, you own the vessels. All boats are registered with Transport Canada under Your name, ensuring compliance and brand alignment.

The ownership of each vessel is directly tied to your Franchise Agreement and Protected Territory. This protects you and fellow franchisees from “rogue operators” infringing on your market.

Financing Options

In certain cases, and depending on business factors, we may offer franchise financing of up to 25% of the required capital in exchange for a slightly higher ongoing royalty/fee.

What Certification is needed

If you are going to be the captain of the vessel, in Canada you will will require a Small Vessels Operator License (SVOP) and in the United States an a Masters 25 Ton licence. Please research your local jurisdiction.

There are several factors that make up a successful operation. There are also local jurisdictional regulations that may govern the operation of your business. The following topics are some you should take into consideration:

Location for your Tiki /Palapa Tour. Must be visible and easily accessible
Are local US Coast Guard or Canada Small Vessel Certified captains available, if you are not going to captain the vessel?
Do you have any local charter or tour boat regulations?

How is my Tiki delivered

This is part of your research. We can have the Tiki Boat shipped ready to go, or we can have it in several pieces for easier transportation to your location(s) or we build on site with our kits. All fees associated with shipping, customs and duty are your responsibility.
